Soooo just about ready to set up The Crown Prince now… Just one small issue. The cover.
It has been very important to me that the books look alike, since they are part of the same series, and I want people to know, just from looking at them, that they belong together. So, when it came to designing the cover for the third book, I knew it would have to match the two first ones,
Which is why we came up with this one;
But, but, but… while photo shopping the text on it, we changed the colors a bit, tampered with the contrast and such, because it had to look like the others and we accidentally stumbled across a setting I just couldn’t let go.
First, my description of The Crown Prince, which is written on the back;
“The Crown Prince is the third book in The Starstone Series. It is a raw, honest story, of a young man with no one to support him, and no one to catch him when he falls.
By far, the darkest of the series, The Crown Prince keeps the twisted humor from the two first books, as it paints a detailed picture of the future elven king.
The elven prince, Nahorim, grows up in the army, desperate to escape an abusive home and everything inside him, struggling to control the overwhelming amount of magic his blood contains.
All the while, the White Queen is preparing for war, seeking to reclaim what the elves once stole from her.
Are the Children of the Light finally going to turn on each other in battle?”
Considering how this book differs from the first two in many ways, how I knew the second I saw the modified picture, that this was what I wanted. Distorted, black, red, and unreal. This picture describes the book for me, much more than the white one that matches the others, ever could;
Still, it’s a rather huge breach on my, wanting the books to look alike, so I am kind of torn here.
Which is why I am throwing it out here, this book is dedicated to all of my online friends, all of you who never fail me and who have become such an important part of my life over the years, so let me ask you.
What would you do? Go with the cover that matches the other books in the series, or stick with the one you really love? (I love the other covers for the other books, don’t get me wrong, they are just the way I want them, but this book is just so different…)
Question is, would I ever be happy about this cover, if I chose to stick with the white one, simply because I don’t feel it paints a fair picture of the book?
Or am I going to regret breaking the style, once I get to releasing book four and five, because I am simply messing everything up now, if I go with the red cover?
Fair warning, I do think I am going to go with the red cover, but I would love to hear your thoughts on the matter, before I set it up?
