I guess there is no way around it. The death of David Bowie and Alan Rickman kind of hit hard, in my little circle of friends. Speaking as both a musician and a fantasy writer, I truly mourn the loss of these icons.
I call them icons, because that is what they were to me. I didn’t know them, and I am sure the loss is much, much greater for their friends and family, but that doesn’t change the fact that the world is somehow a less colorful place without these two people in it.
Being a massive Potterhead, I always adored Rickman’s version of Snape. I grew up, seeing him, and hearing his voice, when I read the books, and Snape appeared.
Always identifying as a Slytherin, I somehow feel that the head of my house, left us again. I have loved seeing how many of my online friends has raised their wands in his honor, changing their profile picture.
As for Bowie, I always adored how brave he was, how inspiring. I don’t think there are many people in this world that qualify to be called true artists, but he sure was one of the few.
I think the most heartbreaking meme I saw on face book, was this one, and I have to share it, because at the same time, it is just so beautiful, especially if you know the story of the Little Prince. So strangely fitting.
I’ll have to share one of the lesser known, I believe, songs of Bowie’s. One I always adored. Not to mention how beautiful the video is. Thursday’s Child.
69 is just too soon. This world was not done, needing them. So, we will just have to make sure that we remember.
